Roots§Routes has just entered its tenth year of life. Our strength has been, and is, the possibility of being a completely independent space for action, discussion and confrontation. We have chosen not to charge for reading the articles and not to print a paper version, because we believe that the meaning of our work is to be addressed to everyone, from students to teachers, from artists to anyone who wants to read us. Now we need a little help from you, in order to ensure that the magazine remains a free and independent space of expression.

Marcel Mauss thought that the gift acquired a personality of its own, regardless of the people who exchange gifts. He said it was as if the gift had a spirit that demanded that it be returned or that something else was returned in its place. In English we say: “What goes around, comes around”. This piece of popular wisdom is a form of cosmic poetry, an echo of the gift spirit.”
